Currently, MATRIC is seeking professionals in the following disciplines.
Process Design Engineer
Responsibilities, including but not limited to:
- Accountable for the successful completion of assigned engineering tasks and preparation of engineering deliverables.
- Responsible to plan and conduct independent work requiring judgment in the evaluation, selection, application and adaptation of engineering techniques, procedures and criteria.
- Interface with Customers and vendors to define project scope, prepare engineering project proposals and resolve technical issues.
- Participate in multi-disciplinary project team meetings with staff and/or customers.
- Devise new approaches to problems, and prepare or modify drawings, specifications, calculations, charts and graphs, and monitor work for compliance to applicable codes, accepted engineering practices and standards.
- Preparation of conceptual designs and process development reports including: Block Flow Diagrams (BFD) - Process Flow Diagrams (PFD) - Process and Instrumentation Diagrams (P&ID) - Process engineering calculations - Material and energy balances-Basis of design process scope documents - Equipment layouts - Process equipment specifications, data sheets, and bid tabulations - User Requirement Specifications (URS) - Project status reports - Equipment lists, line lists, and tie-in lists - Process system construction specifications.
- Monitor/supervise the work of less experienced process engineers and assist with training.
- Interface with other internal engineering disciplines (mechanical, civil/structural, electrical, instrumentation, automation, architecture, etc.) to ensure a coordinated design and complete engineering deliverables.
- Provide field support, and participate in check out, commissioning and start up.
Requirements:
- Bachelor of Science in Chemical Engineering required, Master’s Degree or PE preferred.
- Over five years of experience in energy-related, chemical or industrial process equipment design and engineering techniques.
- Demonstrated knowledge of API, ASME and ANSI standards.
- Demonstrated excellent technology skills (i.e., ChemCad, ASPEN, AutoCad, Microsoft Suite).
- Overtime may be necessary as workloads’ dictate, including weekdays, weekends and/or holidays.
- Travel up to 20% ,may require travel to visit a Customer’s office, production facility or industrial/construction job site or assignment to work at a Customer’s office, facility or site for an extended period of time.
Engineering Manager
Responsibilities, including but not limited to:
- Act as primary sales contact for clients in the engineering subsidiary.
- Coordinate and direct projects, making detailed plans to accomplish goals and directing the integration of technical activities.
- Analyze technology, resource needs, and market demand, to plan and assess the feasibility of projects.
- Recruit employees; assign, direct, and evaluate their work; and oversee the development and maintenance of staff competence.
- Prepare budgets, bids, and contracts, and direct the negotiation of contracts.
- Review and approve contracts and cost estimates.
- Present and explain proposals, reports, and findings to clients.
- Consult or negotiate with clients to prepare project specifications.
- Develop and implement policies, standards and procedures for the engineering and technical work performed in the department.
- Perform administrative functions such as reviewing and writing reports, approving expenditures, enforcing rules, and making decisions about the purchase of materials or services.
- Set scientific and technical goals within broad outlines provided by the parent company.
- Participate in parent company leadership team and assignments.
Requirements:
- Ph.D. or PE preferred, Master’s degree required.
- Minimum of 10 years recent engineering management experience required, international experience preferred.
- Superior project management skills including up-to-date engineering tools knowledge and use.
Internships
Subject to project needs, MATRIC is interested in engaging student interns:
- Undergrad and grad students in engineering, chemistry or biology
- focus on bioenergy projects

- 8-12 weeks in duration
