Cardiff University Designates Professorship to MATRIC Scientist

Dr. Bhasin greets U.S. Senator Joe Manchin at a recent event celebrating the International Year of Chemistry

Several staff members at the Mid-Atlantic Technology, Research & Innovation Center maintain close relationships within academic communities, which help both MATRIC and the respective schools.

Most recently, Chief Scientific Adviser Madan Bhasin, Ph.D., was designated honorary visiting professor to Cardiff University, one of Britain’s leading research institutions. He will collaborate with scholars at the Cardiff Catalysis Institute, a part of the university’s school of chemistry.

“We hope to establish new areas of R&D in the field of catalysis. Within this discipline, Cardiff has leading scientists and engineers, and I believe my experience in the industry will complement their work,” said Bhasin. “This effort will also help MATRIC further expand its presence internationally.”

Other MATRIC staff that collaborate with institutions of higher education include:

  • George Keller, Ph.D., adjunct professor of chemistry at Virginia Polytechnic Institute (Virginia Tech), West Virginia University and Marshall University.
  • Thomas Maliszewski, P.E., adjunct professor of chemical engineering at Purdue University.
  • Jack Smith, Ph.D., adjunct professor of information technology and engineering at Marshall University.
